Manager, Tax Reporting (Provision)
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role your focus will be on the preparation of portions of Amgen’s worldwide tax provision and associated SEC filings, with a focus on the US aspects of international tax and technical tax issues. The position also plays a key role in the preparation of current year and extended tax rate forecasts.
The Manager will also assist with the review of international aspects of Amgen’s U.S. federal tax returns and estimated payment calculations, as needed. Third party service providers prepare the majority of Amgen’s U.S. federal tax return, and the Manager will help facilitate the data collection process, resolve issues, and work on special compliance projects.
The Manager must be familiar with the U.S. taxation of international transactions, including transfer pricing rules, international aspects of the recently enacted U.S. tax reform provisions and Global Anti-Base Erosion Rules (GloBE) – Pillar 2. Amgen has a large international footprint and does business in over 75 countries. As a global biopharmaceutical company with over $30 billion in revenue, the Company’s tax matters include high value intangibles, mergers and acquisitions, licensing transactions, complex manufacturing, financing transactions, and research and development activities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage and prepare significant components of Amgen’s tax provision and tax rate forecasting processes
Manage sections of the U.S. income tax filings
Advise on Pillar II impact of business changes and M&A activities
Perform safe harbor testing
Calculate Pillar II effective tax rate
Prepare GloBE calculations
Train stakeholders on Pillar II
Design and implement processes regarding local Pillar II compliance
Coordinate filing of Pillar II returns
Implement process improvements to enhance the group’s efficiency and effectiveness
Act as a liaison with the different groups within the tax department (tax reporting, transfer pricing, planning and audit resolutions) to ensure that there is timely and thoughtful communication
Work with Amgen tax, finance, accounting and treasury staff to understand transactions and data that flow into or otherwise impact Amgen’s tax provision and tax returns

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree
Or
Master’s degree and 2 years of tax experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of tax experience
Or
Associate’s degree and 10 years of tax experience
Or
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of tax experience
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of Big 4 accounting firm or large multinational corporation experience
CPA license
Strong understanding of US federal and international laws and regulations
Strong understanding of ASC 740, Income Taxes, and experience with uncertain tax positions
Experience in federal income tax compliance including experience with large consolidated returns
Demonstrated experience with Global Anti-Base Erosion Rules (GloBE) – Pillar 2.
Experience with OneSource Income Tax Compliance and Tax Provision software
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and familiarity with SAP
Experience in Pharmaceutical / Biotech industry
Ability to work in cross-functional team environment across multiple senior levels of management
Strong written and verbal communication, as well as presentation skills
Detail-oriented and strong business analytical skills
Outgoing personality and confident ability in dealing with all levels of management within the organization
Ability to work independently
Positive attitude and strong work ethic

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
