Business Performance Associate Director

OT&DS (Operations Transformation and Digital Strategy) is an innovation engine for Amgen Operations to accomplish its business priorities through application of Operational Excellence and Transformation methodologies, accelerated by digital. The team’s scope encompasses Amgen’s end-to-end Operations across our global manufacturing network, with direct connections into each of the Operations functions, including Quality, Process Development, Global Supply Chain, Global Engineering, and Manufacturing. OT&DS provides its team members with a unique breadth of exposure, with opportunities to shape Amgen’s strategy and to engage with peers and leaders through the day-to-day execution of your work.
Reporting to the Senior Director Business Performance for Operational Excellence, the Business Performance Associate Director role will:
Embed Six Sigma and other Amgen OE/CI methodologies across Operations.
Lead strategic cross-functional projects.
Embrace digital solutions that deliver the required results.
Act as coach and advisor to leaders and senior professionals.
Act as a thought partner to project team leaders and Operations leaders to identify solutions, build business cases, manage project teams, generate plans and deliver results.
Provide expertise in Amgen’s improvement methodologies appropriate for the objective, including Agile, Change Management, Operational Excellence, Lean and Six Sigma.
Ensure project success, by managing risks, removing roadblocks, driving innovative thinking, maintaining fair process, raising issues and delivering high quality results.
Serve as an integrator across multiple Operations-wide initiatives and organizations.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers; proactively communicating, seeking advice, and facilitating critical business decisions.
Adapt to a rapidly changing, fast-moving and often ambiguous environment.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 3 years of Science, Engineering, Project Management or Information Systems experience OR
Master’s degree and 5 years of Science, Engineering, Project Management or Information Systems experience OR
Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of Science, Engineering, Project Management or Information Systems experience OR
Associate’s degree and 12 years of Science, Engineering, Project Management or Information Systems experience OR
High school diploma / GED and 14 years of Science, Engineering, Project Management or Information Systems experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Black Belt in Six Sigma.
10+ years experience in a Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement role.
Strong adult learning training development experience.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
Master’s degree (MBA).
Demonstrated history of top performance.
High degree of customer sensitivity/acumen. Establishes and maintains credibility with internal and external customers.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Demonstrated cross-functional project leadership.
Demonstrates potential to take on greater responsibility in the organization or possesses exceptional knowledge in operational excellence, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, or project management.
Advanced user of MS Excel, Minitab (or equivalent), Tableau, ChatGPT and Smartsheet. Effectively uses these and other standard business tools to accomplish results.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
