Diagnostic Liaison, Oncology

Location: Greater Toronto Area or Montreal

Reports to: Medical Director, Oncology

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will develop and support the medical strategy for biomarkers and diagnostics (Dx) within Amgen's Canada portfolio. This involves collaborating with internal and external partners to advance the understanding and integration of biomarker-driven therapies in Canada.

  • Establish and maintain an in-depth scientific and technical understanding of biomarkers and Dx, including testing methodologies, clinical utility and results interpretation.

  • Develop and support the medical affairs strategy for biomarkers and Dx in Canada, working closely with cross-functional teams, including Canadian and Global medical affairs colleagues.

  • Identify barriers and solutions for the routine adoption of clinically actionable biomarkers and public reimbursement of Dx to ensure ongoing and timely access for patients.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure testing availability at launch for targeted therapies and future pipeline assets, including developing and implementing robust testing strategies across Canada.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with Pathology Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) (Pathologists, lab directors and lab personnel) in Canada to gain insights and advance scientific knowledge.

  • Support the planning and execution of advisory boards, educational programs and other scientific exchange meetings focused on biomarkers and Dx.

  • Contribute to biomarker and Dx-related activities at major Canadian and International congresses.

  • Provide input on investigator-sponsored studies (ISS) and research proposals related to biomarkers and diagnostics in Canada.

  • Collaborate with professional societies and advocacy groups to enhance biomarker education and awareness in Canada.

What we expect of you

We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The scientific professional we seek is an individual with these qualifications.

Basic Qualifications:

MD, DO, PhD, or PharmD degree from an accredited institution and 2+ years of industry experience

Or

Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant medical science or industry experience

French/English Bilingual

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Foundation in Life Sciences (e.g., Molecular Biology, Genomics, Oncology).

  • Experience in the development or validation of clinical biomarkers and companion diagnostics., with knowledge of various testing methodologies (e.g., IHC, NGS, PCR, FLOW)

  • Deep understanding of pathology laboratory workflow within academic/community institutions and reference labs Experience with stakeholder engagement (e.g., KOLs including Pathologists, Lab directors, and advocacy groups).

  • Familiarity with Canadian regulatory organizations, guidelines, and practices.

  • Knowledge of Good Clinical and Laboratory Practices and relevant regulations.

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical product development and commercialization processes.

  • Excellent scientific/medical judgment and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-driven and ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French
